The World is a cruel place and you do not need saddest books to make your life depressing. However, Science has proved that sad music, movies, art or literature brings out the hiding pain inside a person and somehow make him/her feel better. There are many depressing books that will definitely make you cry and we decided to list the 50 best books with depressing themes.

Most people consider that love causes most pain than any other feeling or emotion. So obviously our collection of saddest books includes sad romantic novels that revolve around romantic tragedies. But it’s not love that hurts the most. There are other emotions and tragedies too so we decided to included books that have themes of depression, death and failures.
